Bloomsburg Area YMCA (BAY)

PENN-DEL DUAL MEETS: 

BAY Swim Team competes in Penn-Del swim league dual and championship meets. All swimmers are expected to participate in these meets. Coaches will select the events for each swimmer for the dual meets. (No fees charged for these meets - included in team fee). Age groups for these dual meets are: 8 & under, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, and 15 & over.

PENN-DEL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS

Penn-Del League championships provide an opportunity to achieve district qualifying standards and determine team and individual champions. All swimmers are expected to participate in the league championship meet. Swimmers must have represented BAY in at least two dual meets during the season be eligible for the League Championship. There are no qualifying times. Swimmers can consult with coaches to select their individual events. Coaches will select relays.

YMCA INVITATIONALS

A YMCA Invitational meet is a competition involving several YMCA-only swim teams. Some of these meets may have qualifying times that must be met to be eligible to compete. These meets may be split into different sessions based on age group. They may also be spread over several days. Invitational meets have an additional fees, for which families are responsible.

YMCA CHAMPIONSHIPS

A YMCA Championship meet is an invitational meet with a greater emphasis on team score. Many (but not all) of these meets require qualifying times. Each championship meet will be described in more detail on the following page.

USA SWIMMING MEETS

USA Swimming is another layer of optional competition available for our swimmers. These meets are typically larger invitational meets spread over multiple days. Because USA meets are sanctioned by USA Swimming, each participant must be registered with USA Swimming (fee) for the current year to compete. Some of these meets require qualifying times. Many of these meets require farther travel. Swimmers of all ages can join USA Swimming and participate in these meets. Those who are 8 & Under will only be able to participate in meets that allow for 8 & Under. This would include “10 & Under” or “Mini Meets”. These meets have additional fees for which families are responsible.

PLEASE NOTE: USA registered swimmers are still expected to compete in a minimum of 2 Penn-Del Dual Meets.

NEPA SUMMER LEAGUE MEETS

BAY Swim Team competes in the North Eastern Pennsylvania Aquatic Summer League from early May to Late-July/Early-August. These meets will generally have three to four teams attending them at a time. These meets generally take place on a Wednesday Evening and will begin at 5:00 PM. There are no entry fees involved with these meets.
